Evil
The nature of evil is something that is characteristically horrible and atrocious. In my opinion, of course evil exists. Look at the world around us, the countless amounts of terrible things that happen everywhere everyday, leave me to think that of course there is evil in this world. However, that being said I think there is also good too. Evil is caused by the faults of many people. Greed, ignorance, and arrogance have caused many conflicts throughout history. Certainly, evil can be defeated but many people are too afraid of what could happen if they try to stand up to bad things. Those that are courageous enough can defeat and stand up against evil to protect what is good in the world. This is where the ideas for superheroes came into play, to let people, mainly children realize the world isn't all a bad place, and evil can be defeated. Although, it doesn't take a huge muscle beefcake of a man to defeat it. Example all throughout history have shown this like Martin Luther King Jr. He stood up against what he knew what wrong and helped African Americans through discrimination. Anyone can defeat evil; they just have to care enough to fight against it.

Isn't evil relative though? You use the example of MLK, Jr. both some would not consider "racism" evil but see truths.
ReplyDeleteYou see "good and evil" as some sort of black and white dilemma. Like there are people who choose to be evil, and people that choose to be good.
ReplyDeleteBut in reality, no one is evil for the sake of being evil. All evil in the world is committed by someone who thought they were doing good. Even Hitler was trying to make the world a better place. It may have only been for himself and his people, but he still thought he was doing good.
I was mainly looking at the countless numbers of lives taken because of racism and how MLK Jr. helped bring awarness to the fact that disrimination is wrong and should be defeated.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you've said, especially about people having to care enough to be able to defeat evil. There's so much potential out there for people to challenge the evil in the world and I believe it is possible as well, creating fairytales and ideas of superheros are definitetly just the start.
ReplyDeleteDo you think all people are born with the capability to do and be good or evil? Because I believe God intetionally put evil here to test our faith.
